The United Arab Emirates is a place of contradictions. Traditionally an extremely religious, modest and tight knit culture, in recent decades Emiratis have used their enormous wealth from petroleum to transform their once simple Bedouin villages into an urban oasis that people from around the world come to experience.
These once desert navigating, nomadic people have now transformed into urban dwellers, with some still desperately trying to hold onto the mentality, tradition and essence of the old way of life. Due to the large population of expats currently living in the UAE, the Emirati lifestyle is influenced on a daily basis.
As they navigate the 21st century, it's almost as if they’re looking from the outside in on their own past.
